BIGGEST. OPENING. EVER.

BIGGEST. OPENING. EVER.

No shocker here, people are NUTS over "The Dark Knight". The movie pulled in over 155 MILLION it's first three days in theatres, smashing opening records for pre-sale, weekend, and IMAX ticket sales... According to PEOPLE: Among the other records broken by The Dark Knight: biggest midnight release ($18.5 million), biggest weekend on IMAX screens ($6.2 million), top single-day take on a Friday ($67.9 million), and most screens (4,366), the Los Angeles Times reports.
Overseas, the movie was on track to perform similarly, making a strong $40 million on 4,500 screens in 20 territories, breaking the Australian weekend opening for a superhero movie ($13.1 million) and Brazil's best opening this year ($4.3 million).
and obviously it's no wonder, I mean it's not like we didn't see this coming. The ROLLING STONE review alone had me sold: "The Dark Knight, director Christopher Nolan's absolute stunner of a follow-up to 2005's Batman Begins, is a potent provocation decked out as a comic-book movie. Feverish action? Check. Dazzling spectacle? Check. Devilish fun? Check. But Nolan is just warming up. There's something raw and elemental at work in this artfully imagined universe. Striking out from his Batman origin story, Nolan cuts through to a deeper dimension. Huh? Wha? How can a conflicted guy in a bat suit and a villain with a cracked, painted-on clown smile speak to the essentials of the human condition? Just hang on for a shock to the system. The Dark Knight creates a place where good and evil — expected to do battle — decide instead to get it on and dance. "I don't want to kill you," Heath Ledger's psycho Joker tells Christian Bale's stalwart Batman. "You complete me." Don't buy the tease. He means it." READ THE REST AT ROLLING STONE

Rupert Grint plays Ron Weasley in the Harry Potter series of films and he's just given the most brilliant interview ever in the history of the written word. It seems Rupert is not at all impressed by the likes of Lindsay Lohan and Paris Hilton. From SHOWBIZSPY: "I met Lindsay last summer and she talked about herself a lot...She said she was going to win an Oscar before she turns 25. I just kept thinking, 'But you can't act'." Rupert is yet to cross paths with Paris — and he hopes it stays that way. "I haven't met Paris and don't want to either," he told British newspaper The Sun. "She and Lindsay are the type of girls you need to stay away from."
Quick! Someone get this kid a cape! and a medal! and his own talk show!
Advice from Uncle Ted
Wednesday 06-25-2008 7:24pm ET
No one says it like the Motorcity Mad Man and proving it again this past week, as Ted Nugent has offered his words of advice to newly-graduated high school and college students. In an op-ed piece printed in the Detroit News, the rocker provides a few personal pointers, which he calls "Uncle Ted's proven modus operandi for a quality of life." Nugent begins with "Nobody owes you a thing. Everything you will get out of life will be based solely on what you put into it."
In terms of money, he advises, "Be frugal. Live responsibly within your means. Bling-bling is not making ends meet." He ends by telling graduates, "Have fun. Life is not a dress rehearsal. Live smart, live good. Rock hard."
Other advice includes:
"Take care of your precious, sacred temple. Eat smart and stay clean. Do not smoke, use drugs, eat or drink too much or chew on glass sandwiches. Partaking in these mindless misadventures will shorten your life."
"Do not complain. Any spineless whiner can do that. Instead, look for solutions to tough problems. This will earn you respect from your boss and get you promoted."
"Never do anything for money. Do what you do exceedingly well and thoroughly enjoy, and money will come looking for you."
"Avoid negative people and slobbering hippies like the plague. They never accomplish anything. Surround yourself with positive people who are better than yourself and will mentor, help and guide you honestly."
"Remember Rosa Parks. Be prepared to defy stupid laws and regulations wherever you find them. Raise hell. Vote smart."
"Famous philosopher and legendary San Francisco police detective, my hero Dirty Harry, once said, 'A man has got to know his limitations.' This is good advice." "Trust your gut feelings. Only trust people who have earned your trust. Trust but verify. Never trust the French."
U2 Producer: Expect an "Innovative" Album
Wednesday 06-25-2008 7:20pm ET
Found this tid bit of info over at spinner.com. Long-time U2 producer Daniel Lanois says the band's upcoming 12th studio album is "promising to be a fantastically innovative collection of songs." The knob-twiddler adds that he and the Irish rockers have "been referencing Jimi Hendrix records recently," particularly with regard to the drumming. Elsewhere, an image designed by U2 frontman Bono adorns a new range of T-shirts from Hard Rock International. Sales of the garments will benefit Wildlife Conservation Society's Conservation Cotton Initiative.
According to U2's website, the release date is still TBD but will most likely be towards the end of October.
